At the end of the second race of the 2013 Pirelli World Challenge Championships Long Beach Grand Prix, Cadillac Racing driver Andy Pilgrim managed to scrape out a second place finish. In the same race, teammate Johnny O’Connell suffered a DNF on the last lap, after an encounter with a three-inch piece of steel shrapnel from a broken brake rotor from Alex Figge’s No.9 Volvo.
The Cadillac CTS-V.R Coupe race car lost water pressure, and eventually stopped running altogether, with just three-quarters of a mile to go in the race, and while O’Connell was in the lead. Regardless, a second-place finish by Pilgrim keeps the team in the manufacturer’s points chase.
The next event for Cadillac Racing is at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, beginning May 17.
