You may have seen blurry shots of the 2014 Cadillac CTS in the buff, but this spy photo provides what is quite possibly the best, albeit camouflaged view, of the upcoming midsize luxury sedan’s overall shape caught rolling our GM’s Milford Proving Grounds, and sent to us by GM Authority reader JakeCaster.
As you can see, the front end sports a prominent huge Cadillac badge and mesh-style grille (a notable trait of today’s belobed CTS-V)that is noticeably different and more aggressive than the unit we saw in February, which featured two horizontal bars (below). What’s more, the lower fascia has a nice and open maw to allow for better breathing, while the vertical LED-based light strip is clearly peaking through the camo. The blacked-out wheels are sexy (also a CTS-V trait), and are those covered-up heat extractors on the hood?
A lot of visual evidence from this photo points to this vehicle being the third-generation Cadillac CTS-V. And at the very least, some sort of performance trim level.

As I look at the Front Grill on this Spy Shot, it appears to me to be the Grill of the light colored Caddy in the Fore Front……..So…….Is the front grill of the Black Caddy be the Mysterious Flagship or Something Else we haven’t heard of yet??? MMMMMMMM 🙂 🙂
COOL.
Too small to be a flagship. Oh yeah that’s a V alright. I can see the mesh grille. And it’s got the mirrors from the 2014 CTS too
It seems as though it is right on track to be revealed alongside the ATS-V
Wow, they even covered up the door handles, must be hiding something new there too. Going off of the look of the mesh in the grill, what looks to be a heat extractor being hidden in the top of the hood, aaaaand i cant tell from this angle if thats a HUGE brake rotor or the inside edge of the front right rim, i think this COULD possibly be the next gen CTSV. If it in fact is, am i the only one that thinks the look of the grill area looks really similar to the current V, just with a slightly softer look to it?On the flip-side, i realize that its speculated that this could be a CTSV, but i think there’s also a possibility that this could be an ATSV movin’ round because from one of the leaked ATSV photos i’ve seen taken from an angle very similar to this the grill/fascia area looks VERY similar. For all we know the engineers might’ve decided to put an extractor in the hood to help with heat dissipation perhaps as a result of higher temps seen through computer analysis and/or temp readings.
The current CTS-V is an impressive machine. Whatever this one turns out to look like, it has a hard act to follow? Pricing could also be a problem? With the entire CTS line moving upward now that the ATS is here, how much will a new CTS-V cost? $75K? $80K?
While the current CTS-V is a fine vehicle, I don’t think it will be a hard act to follow. Since the new CTS will be moving up a class (or better yet, moving directly into a class rather than ineffectively straddling two), it will command a higher price point (somewhere around the M5, E65 AMG, RS6 levels).
This is a good thing, since it allows Caddy to compete directly in classes against the best of the best, while increasing the content and performance levels in the new CTS and CTS-V. Add to that the weight and dynamic advantages furnished by the Alpha architecture, new infotainment technology (CUE), new safety equipment (adaptive cruise, safety alert seat, lane departure, etc.), and what is most definitely going to be increased refinement of the driving experience and the powertrain, and the new CTS will be a noticeable improvement over the current model.
LFX, agreed it will be interesting to see the pricing structure. GM will need to be carefull inthe pricing.
Anyone else get a vibe that AWD may be part of the CTS V?
Yea, i have a feeling it may be an option. If they want to compete with the new AMG’s that have the 4matic then they’ll have to go AWD in order to compete in terms of 0-60 acceleration/road holding.
Cadillac will soon be on the top….ATS V, the new CTS and its V model….and the flagship that is coming out will soon have s trim to compete with S63, S8, etc……performance, luxury, design…..Cadillac is hitting all the nails on the heads…..
Unless i missed something in one of these Cadillac posts where did you hear that the flagship would be coming out with an S-trim version? If that is in fact true then awesome…however, i think they should choose to call it something else and not copy MB by also calling theirs S-trim. Call it R-trim or X-trim…something that still sounds catchy and with a race-inspired ring to it without copying a competitor. Also, if they are coming out with their own s-trim variant then i wonder what it would entail, for instance if its a twin turbo 6…would the s-trim be that same tt 6 but with higher boost? More free-flowing exhaust system? If its a s/c’d 8, again…will it be overboosted or what?See what i’m saying? The MB s-trim is a performance back where the boost is increased by X amount of psi over stock to give it X amount more hp/tq over stock…so yea i wonder, depending on what model ends up getting what motor and comparable “s-trim” version i wonder if it would be the same thing as MB and just be higher boost level or what.
I am pretty sure cadillac would offer a higher engine option…….it would be essential and increase profit margins…..I not saying it would be called an S-trim, that reference above was for the S550 AMG trim “S63” and Audi’s A8 engine option the”S8″……Cadillac shouldn’t make a “V” of the flagship, but just over a higher more prestigious engine option……like a V12 or even better a V16 to hearken back to the golden ages since Cadillac affiliation with the V16 name is magnanimous with pure luxury.
As we discuss this, let’s keep in mind that the German three are bringing their performance nomenclature to non-performance models. For instance, the M, AMG, and S are now all available on non-M, AMG, or S cars as body kit, wheel, and interior packages.
That said, Caddy should definitely offer up a V of its flagship sedan (LTS?) whenever that arrives… but a V16? Even a V12 is a stretch nowadays, with one 5 manufacturers offering such an engine.
Hey geniuses… that IS the 2011 CTS-V front end installed behind the camouflage in order to fool spy photographers.
Notice how the mesh-grille is too small and yet higher than the headlights -the new design of the grille is LARGER than the old one.
Also notice, how the curved line between the lower grille and the main one how it disappears when it hits the black camouflage.
Still not believing me? Compare the front end of the 2011 CTS-V -near the new CTS- (the blurry picture below the camouflaged one) with the camouflaged CTS.. doesn’t it looks the same?
And finally, the color tone changes on the camouflaged CTS-V front end.. the Car is WHITE.. while the “grille-surroundings” are NOT!
