If you’re in the market for a big luxury sedan, there’s a new car in town: the 2013 Cadillac XTS. The big Caddy looks to attract and retain customers of the discontinued STS and DTS, but with finer comforts and technology this time around comparable to what you would find in any given German luxury brand. But will it cost as much? With the $44,995 base price provided by the configurator, yes.
Add all-wheel-drive, select the Platinum variant, and you’re already above $60,000. Option it out with premium paint, and heck, even throw in the $75 engine block heater. Go big or go home, right? But really, there are minimal options. With it all loaded up, the 2013 XTS comes in at $62,725. Worth it?

I think it’s worth it, if you consider the spec sheet. If one would pay that much for a mid-spec BMW 5-Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, I think it’s worth it to pay such a sum for a car that trades driving characteristics for pure, unadulterated luxury. Also, it is nice that Cadillac has a nearly 20K gap, allowing customers to purchase what they really want in this model.
Should All Wheel Drive be a Option or standard ?
I think in all cases, AWD should be an option. Some people don’t need it, and would rather keep the $5,000 or so.
Agreed… Even though $5,000 is steep for an AWD setup. But hey, you pay for convenience, right?
It actually seems like the Platinum should be about $10k more. I guess it’s just me.
AWD is $2225 more than FWD. The Standard trim is not available in AWD.
I think it is. But I think that after this launch they should put TT V6 on the platinum model.
@ $2225, I’d put that on my Option List Big Time, but, there still an Issue with the Engine, yo Alex, Manoli, or Anyone else, you hear anything Definite on weather they will put a Serious Power Plant on the Platinum, just seems Blasphemous to offer the same Engine as the Standard Trim!!!!
All we know about any future engine is… “stay tuned”.
would you guys think that putting the V on this car be niche or it would just kill it?
The fact that it’s a stretched FWD sedan with a ton of “hard points” (in the architecture) masquerading as a super-duper-series luxury car is problematic enough. Making a performance variant would be silly.
It wouldn’t kill the XTS, just the whole V-series and all of Cadillac.
$62,725 is the Platinum fully loaded price…
I saw this car at dealer and sat in it…very nice but felt all the shiny black plastic on dash and doors very cheap-looking and was already smudged/dirty…also a lot of glare….did not seem appropriate on a Cadillac….a soft brushed metal or a flat interior-matched plastic would at least blend in and not look like an average car
Yes, even the Buick Lacrosse has a more refined interior IMHO….not all that shinyplastic….on a Cadillac??????
