NHTSA Clears GM Medium Duty Trucks Of Cooling Fan Issues

The discontinued Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC Topkick 4500 and 5000 trucks built on the GMT560 platform will get a pass from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after the agency couldn’t figure out the root cause of complaints regarding cracked cooling fans. The NHTSA did cover its bases the old-fashioned PR way by saying it remained concerned about injury risk, and added that complaints seem to be “small and diminishing,” and will therefore not issue a recall. But concerned Kodiak and Topkick owners are still advised to have their cooling fans checked, just in case.
