An automotive company rarely makes news about being kind to the environment, but today is an exception, as the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality has given the nod to not just one, but six General Motors facilities in the state.
The plants receiving Neighborhood Environmental Awards were GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly, Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, Orion Assembly, Warren Transmission, Romulus Engine Plant, and the Flint Metal Center. The plants earned their green stripes by participating with the local community in planting trees, monitoring local rivers, and cooperating with local schools and universities on ways that help lower environmental impact and reliance on the Grid.
