OnStar Dealer Maintenance Notification

Dealer Maintenance Notification is an OnStar feature that notifies dealers when a vehicle requires service.

Also referred to as DMN, Dealer Maintenance Notification notifies a dealership when a vehicle associated with it requires service such as a 60,000-mile checkup, an oil change, or a bevy of other potential vehicle-related issues. Upon receiving the notification from OnStar, a dealer calls the customer to schedule a service appointment to perform the service in question.

Opting Into DMN

For DMN to function correctly, a customer must “opt in” to the service during the initial OnStar setup call (aka welcome call) with an OnStar advisor.

Customers who initially opted out of DMN can opt in by pressing the blue OnStar button within the vehicle and speaking to a service advisor.

Changing Preferred Dealer

To send maintenance notifications to another dealer, customers can change the preferred dealer associated with their vehicle. This can be useful when moving or based on personal dealer preference.

Customers can change which dealer receives OnStar maintenance notifications for their vehicle(s) in either of the following two ways:

  1. Pressing the blue OnStar button from within the vehicle and instructing an OnStar advisor to make the change, or
  2. Logging into OnStar.com and selecting a dealer under the Preferred Service Dealer page in the Vehicle Settings section

Fun Fact

OnStar Dealer Maintenance Notification (DMN) is a companion service to OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics (OVD). DMN is for dealers while OVD is sent to customers/vehicle owners.
