Not only is being part of the automotive enthusiast community one of the greatest cultures to reside in, but groups, owners and enthusiasts constantly rally around their passion for the greater good of the community.
“Corvettes 4 St. Jude” is merely one of those groups, and it has a story to make you feel better than starting up your favorite vehicle before a lengthy drive.
The group, founded by a Corvette Forum member by the name of Jesse, prides itself on holding regional Corvette shows across the country and auctioning off Corvette parts to raise funds for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. This year, the group delivered a milestone.
We say delivered, because each year members meet for a cruise on the banks of the Mississippi in Memphis, Tennessee to deliver the year’s fundraising check. More than 50 Corvettes were escorted onto the highway by local police. And when the Corvettes filled the St. Jude Hospital’s parking lot, it was a sight to see.
“Corvettes 4 St. Jude” then dropped the big news. The 2015 fundraising check was the largest it had ever tallied: $149,555.68. The milestone had been accomplished, with the group raising over $1 million over the past 12 years. Emotions ran high, as one can imagine.
The original report is titled “The First Million”, because the group hopes to only build on its current momentum to make the “The Second Million” come quicker than the first.
