Baojun E100 Electric Car Launches In China

SAIC-GM-Wuling has launched its first electric car under the Baojun brand: the E100, and it’s a quirky little thing, isn’t it?

Baojun says the car has been engineered for urban mobility, which led to its small footprint. Despite being tiny, it packs a credible electric punch. The Baojun E100 features a single motor that produces 39 horsepower and 81 pound-feet of torque and it can travel 96 miles before the battery pack is depleted.

A full charge is completed in 7.5 hours and energy can be recaptured through an onboard regenerative braking system.

Accommodations for two adults are present and a seven-inch touchscreen and Wi-Fi capability are standard. A premium trim adds more features such as a cabin air filter, keyless entry and more.

Baojun will offer 500 vehicles initially, which are on sale now. After local subsidies, the Baojun E100 is priced at 35,800 RMB or $5,299 USD at current exchange rates.
