Qualifying for this weekend’s Belle Isle Grand Prix was red flagged today after Ricky Taylor hit the wall in the No. 10 Cadillac DPi-V.R.
The red flag meant the minimum required running time for the session was not met, which according to race control meant the Prototype grid had to be set “by other means.” Christian Fittipaldi will start on pole, according to a tweet sent out by IMSA.
Per Race Control: @fittitweet on pole for @AX_Racing.
Explanation: Sporting Regs, subsections of 40.2

Only the Prototype starting grid failed to set, with the GTD class session running green for its duration. The No. 57 Audi R8 LMS will start on GTD pole, with the No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 and No. 48 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 starting second and third, respectively.
As always, the GTLM cars are not racing in Belle Isle this weekend as much of the field is in France testing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
