Yet another subtle hint has surfaced indicating we’ll be seeing the proposed 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 sooner rather than later.
Corvette Blogger reports the GM order system now shows a gas guzzler tax has been assigned an RPO after a customer went through the process of ordering a C7 Corvette Z06. Specifically, the gas guzzler tax receives RPO R8E.
This also follows the fact GM has also assigned an RPO code to the Corvette Carbon 65 special edition surrounding its blue brake calipers. Along with the RPO code, they’re officially called “ZR1 Blue.” Blue brake calipers made their appearance on the C6 Corvette ZR1, which was also known as “the blue devil.”
We’ve heard numerous reports the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 will debut sometime this year, but no solid dates have been confirmed. An IMSA race in August and a private event towards the end of this year are all possibilities. There’s no denying the Corvette team has something coming our way soon, though.

I can’t wait to see this new ZR1
The gas guzzler tax on the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 tells you just about everything you want to know about the Corvette ZR1 in that Chevrolet engineers want the C7 platform to go out with a bang especially given that the base 2017 C7 Corvette can easily get over the EPA highway mileage of 29 mpg.
Any confirmation of a DOHC N/A 6.2?
Does the gas tax mean around 750 hp or well north of 800 hp?
That stability control is a beautiful thing
What this tells is this will be a great car but the C8 will be even greater as it has to top this one.
Would the C8 base model have 500 hp?
C6 430hp
C7 460 hp
C8 490+
