Filling the shoes of the Yenko nameplate would be on heck of a feat, but the guys at Speciality Vehicle Engineering (SVE) seem to have done history right. They offer a package to recreate the iconic 1969 427 Yenko Camaro on the fifth-generation Camaro, and we have a video of their handywork making a dyno pull for your enjoyment.
The SVE Yenko Camaro features GM’s massive 427 V8 fourth-gen Small Block, named for its 427 cubic-inch displacement, and adds in a supercharger for good measure with an aluminum block and heads. The result is a staggering 700 horsepower, more than enough to honor the original Yenko Camaro.
On the outside, the SVE Yenko Camaro features the front end of the fifth-gen Camaro ZL1 with a few classic cues for good measure. Throwback Yenko stripes adorn the hood and side, while 427 badges placed on the Camaro’s sides rear remind everyone just what it is that they’re looking at. The car has a downright sinister look and sounds great during its dyno pull.
We can’t wait to see more on this masterpiece, but for now, congrats to SVE on a job well-done in honoring the Yenko nameplate with this modern-day interpretation.
