The championship-winning Cadillac CTS-V.R Coupe will soon be put to pasture, and in its place will be the Pratt & Miller Engineering-developed Cadillac ATS-V.R, which unlike the vehicle its replacing, will be a homogelated GT3-spec race car. This means it will more appropriately compete with the likes of K-PAX with their McLarens and CRP Racing with their Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3 race cars in Pirelli World Challenge action. The current CTS-V.R serves as a heavier and slightly underpowered car, yet it continues to remain competitive.
The photos of the ATS-V.R, which can be found on Racer, was spotted in an airport loading dock in Chicago. It’s covered in zebra paint, is wide as hell, has a monster rear diffuser and also features two doors. But get this, unlike the traditional Small Block V8 featured in the CTS-V race car, it’s expected that the new 2016 ATS-V Coupe race car will feature a twin-turbo V6. Just like the production model, which will be shown at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
