Vauxhall has priced the most powerful production car to ever emerge from Australia, the VXR8 GTS, in the UK at £54,999 ($91,347 US). The VXR8 GTS has gained 150 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, but has earned a £5,000 ($8,304 US) price premium over the outgoing VE-based VXR8.
Thanks to the now standard supercharged 6.2 liter LSA engine, the VXR8 is by far the cheapest way into the 500 horsepower club in the UK. The latest VXR8 also features a face lifted exterior and a heavily revised and updated interior, along with a raft of new technology including automatic park assist, forward collision alert and brake torque vectoring.
“The very fact that cars like the VXR8 GTS still exist proves that there is a small, but immensely passionate band of customers out there who want to drive something which is unique and special,” Stuart Harris, Vauxhall’s Head of Carline Brand, said in a statement.
Vauxhall began accepting orders for the new VXR8 GTS at the beginning of the month, with first deliveries happening at the end of the year.
