GM Recalls 2014 Silverado, GMC Sierra Pickup Trucks

General Motors is recalling nearly 22,000 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 full-size pickups due to an issue involving manual reclining seatbacks.

The manual reclining seatbacks in certain 2014 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickups may fail to protect occupants in the event of a rear end collision.  The notice from GM states “these trucks have manual front seat reclining seatbacks that might fail to meet a federal safety requirement for dynamic performance if struck from behind.”

The automaker said it is not aware of any crashes or injuries caused by the issue.

GM will notify owners of the recall if their vehicles are affected. Dealer’s will inspect the seat backs and adjust them if necessary, the work will be covered under existing warranty.
