Reuss Announces Camaro ZL1 Nürburgring Lap Of 7:41.27

Just moments ago on Twitter, an announcement was made by GM spokesperson Jason Laird relaying the news from GM North American President Mark Reuss that the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 lapped the Nürburgring in a scant 7:41.27. How fast is that? Well, it blows the doors off the Cadillac CTS-V, which went 7:59.32 back in 2009, and just behind the Ferrari 458 Italia, which went 7:38. It sounds like we’ve got ourselves a winner, folks.

Presumably, that time makes the ZL1 the most affordable car to ever break the 8-minute mark… assuming it won’t cost more than a 2012 Nissan GT-R when it launches in the Spring of 2012.
