I heard that Gm is telling dealerships not to charge more than Msrp on any Vehicle that is ordered. I was inquiring on a Zr2 and one dealer is telling me you can’t get them it will take forever with the chip shortage and dealers are marking up the prices on them even if you order them. Is anybody running into this? Even for a Trailboss?

You told him right.
The arrogance of these people is literally amazing.
Sunset Chevrolet in Sumner Washington is a dealer we’ve bought 3 Chevy’s from over the past 15 years.
When we reached out for a factory order Br*tt got back to me saying that it would be MSRP Plus $5K.
We told him that after buying 3 vehicles from Sunset over the years, and supporting them during the Obama era when GM almost closed their dealership, he replied that “you try to keep it going with only 1/16th the inventory and trying to not let people go”.
To which I replied, “ok, fair enough. You want to marry my daughter, well she’s rare and in demand, so give me $10,000 and you could marry her”.He didn’t like that.
So I told him how we supported Sunset with our business and his reply was that he went to the GM and could get the “Adjusted Market Value” down to $2500.
I put him in my junk e-mail folder.
How f’ing arrogant and STUPID tell a returning customer your going to do them a favor by charging OVER MSRP on a guaranteed sale.I can understand dealers stock, fair game, especially with other dealers buying their stock and then turning around, jacking it up $10k and selling it used, shark tank.
But his arrogance towards us was really telling, and Sunset can go f themselves. You advertise that your “family”……..bullschiit. Flat out liars.

Yeah its crazy, there’s a local GM (and toyota and nissan, which is weird to me) dealer in town that wants to charge the 5k over MSRP that you’re talking about. its a load of crap. the dealer I ordered my Refresh Silverado from is selling it to me at MSRP, so its not like they are being forced to, and like the point above, its basically a guaranteed sale. they don’t have to advertise the truck, if you’re ordering it from the manufacture, its already “sold” and if you don’t buy it, that’s why they ask for a deposit. GM sent out the letter to dealers telling them to stop charging over MSRP, which is still gaining the dealer profit. some crooked dealers are just taking advantage of people in a already difficult time, where prices of new trucks have already gone up at MSRP

I’ve ran into that a bunch. A dealer I was shopping at to back, I guess. Not sure what the situation was. But they took back a 2022 2500 Custom with connivence packges plow prep trailer brakes 7400 miles and few other add ons. Build price was roughly 50K. They marked it up to 57K. I told them to stop calling and I was told I will never find a better deal!!!!!! Most dealers I have found in NE Ohio are up charging between 3-7K…….OUCH!
It took about 14 different dealerships to find 3 that aren’t up charging ordered vehicles. So I went with the politest sales associate and now I get to wait a year before I get my new ride! -

I tried to place an order with my local dealer and they told me they can’t place my order at this time due to the 6.2L motor they’ll take the build only with a diesel or 5.3L. Is this true?
