All, my 2022 Sierra SLT was shipped without the heated steering wheel controller. My dealer has said they have not accomplished any of these ‘backfits’ yet.

I received a written notice when closing the deal at the dealership in April 2022 saying GM would contact me via mail when this backfit was available, estimated to be end of the summer 2022. I’ve not received anything but am curious if any of you have?

      Thanks in advance!

My 2022 Cadillac xt5 that was purchased on March 2,2022 took 7 months to ship a seat heat controller so it’s going to be a wait. You are lucky to even get a truck, mine has been sitting in Mexico for 7 months now awaiting parts, I ordered it Nov.2021

I ordered my 2022 in Dec 2021, and it was delivered April 27, 2022. I’m happy to have it. It replaced a 2021 Sierra SLT that was totaled at 940 miles when some idiot t-boned me and ran me off the road. VERY happy to have my 2022!

I took delivery on my ’22 SLT in April ’22 and I too am still waiting on any information on getting my heated steering wheel retro fitted. Getting nowhere with GMC or GM. It’s December in the mornings here in PA are getting cold. Other than the heated steering wheel, my truck had all of the other chips and controllers. Frustrating isn’t the word.

I purchased my 2022 Yukon XL AT4 in February and I also have heard nothing on the retrofit of my heated steering wheel or the other missing items. I have called the dealer last week and they told me no Heated Steering Wheel retrofits have not been done for any vehicles to date. In the past I was being told the retrofits would be performed in Q3 then Q4 and now I have received no updates at all. This lack of communications is not a good way to keep customers. Another winter without a heated steering wheel that I paid for (less the $25 credit joke) is frustrating.

Well, Parts Man 1, we’ve heard that before. I’ll believe it when I see it. You’d think they’d have some since they’re putting them in vehicles off the line currently. So, one can only assume GM only cares about future customers, not current customers.

Jwandling, Having been with a GM dealer for 40 years I can tell that GM is run by Bean Counters who have no clue how to take care of a customer. Have a problem and you go to the factory for help and their first question is customer pay or warranty… If its not warranty they pretty just look at you.. No clue that a CP just might buy a new car or truck..

I just received an email from socialmedia@gm.com telling me the heated steering wheel parts are now available for my 2022 Refresh GMC Sierra 1500 SLT. They offered to setup an appointment for this on my behalf. I responded thanking them and asked for details i.e. now or 2 weeks from now or?

I then emailed one of the service writers at my dealer to ask for complete assurance the parts are available and I can bring my truck in. I trust them. I think… I’ll gauge that by when I receive a response.

I did not get a letter in the mail from GM.

You should start receiving emails or letters next week for the retrofit. GM is also giving everyone involved 12.500 reward points which is worth $125 at your dealer. Some will get 6 months of Onstar remote access at no charge. If you havent already had your heated seats done there will be a reminder…

Gemassie, sorry, I’ll check your VIN tomorrow…

I check and VIN shows that you have a heated steering coming and as you found out they can order the parts. You also have a bulletin for reprogram for your day time running light and and a rear brake line inspection for a possible clearance problem

      Glad to help.

Parts Man 1, thank you for the full story on my Sierra.

I ordered this 2022 Sierra Refresh in Dec 2021, and picked it up last April at Hendrick GMC in Richmond. I was trading in a 2021 Sierra 1500 they’d just resurrected from a near total loss when some drug crazed driver t-boned me with 940 miles on it. 🙁 Dealer treated me awesome. Just had to be patient for 6 months while they worked their magic. Body panel/parts shortages back then caused a major delays.

They put a GM parts tonneau cover on the 2022 for me and paint matched it. Had them do a full ceramic coat on the truck then, but they could not treat the tonneau cover because the paint was too fresh. They are pretty much a 4 hour round trip for me, and they offered to handle all this all in one visit. Hopefully soon.

Thanks again for your assist on this!

        Gerry-

I reached out to the dealer and then to GMC headset support. Provided my vin and was told it was NOT underway yet and they had no idea when it would be offered or how many vehicles are affected. They are of course really sorry for the inconvenience of 15 + months without the purchased and paid for feature. And really understand my frustration with a the delay caused entirely by circumstances out of their control.
The headset jockey did give me a certificate (by email) for an Oil Lube and Filter plus tire rotation to be used within the next year. It did not make the steering wheel any warmer just saying or my frustration any less LOL.

Maybe they are only being done in the US at this point ? Any influence in the Great White North, PartsMan?
