Readers of this website may be aware that the 2023 Canyon and upper trim levels of the Colorado are not shipping, This website reported that shipping was to commence last Monday – due to this unexplained delay this launch appears to be subverted by a false supply shortage being artificially created by the lack of EPA publishing the mileage estimates. As I understand it and again, according to the reporting of this website, the trucks started rolling off the line on January 29th – six weeks ago – and they have been rolling off literally 24/7 since then. Therefore, there are literally 1.000’s of Canyons/upper trim level Colorados sitting at Wentzville – fully assembled but cannot ship because the EPA mileage rating is unresolved. At first, I thought this was a legitimate oversight. However, this is dragging on leading me to believe this is purposeful. Is seems very odd that the entry level Colorado work truck has an approved EPA mileage rating and is shipping but all the other trim levels of the Colorado and all Canyons due of the enhanced power tune of the motor is still awaiting the EPA fuel estimate. How can this be the case? After all, GM has applied for mileage ratings literally hundreds, if not thousands of times – and now it’s delayed? ANSWER: Creation of false supply shortage which drives up demand, which increases selling prices, which increases GM and dealership profits by getting prices well over MSRP…..

Waiting on Canyon Denali also. Have you been able to deny
or confirm this is an EPA sticker issue or not. I agree with you that if base model Colorodo vehicles have shipped it can’t be a transportation issue… -

Got a text from my buddy at the GMC dealer with a pdf scan of my window sticker. So he said hopefully the Canyon Elevation will be on its way. He only had a copy of the RPO that he sent me about a month ago, until today. Somewhat good news.

They are also showing up as in transit if you do a price and build on the GMC site and select a dealer closest to you. Also, they are showing up on the GMSupplierDiscount site if your eligible for that. They weren’t listed on the GMC or SD sites at all prior to today.

Does anyone have a friend at the assembly plant who can tell us about the Canyons shipping?

Yeah please, an update would be nice. My buddy at the dealership still has no info on where the truck is. I was really hoping it would be in this week because I have a fishing trip planned and the driving arrangements may require me to have a truck by then. I might be buying a 2023 Sierra this week instead. 🤦♂️

Gm is doing a great job no one knows when the new truck will be made and my 2022 equinox premier has been in to the shop 10 times when in self park the steering wheel just shakes then says check the owners Manuel .
Gm had me take it to a different dealer to get a second opinion. They changed things nothing helped.Gm tech help says working as designed -

I got an email that my GMC Canyon was on its final shipping journey to the dealer on Friday April 7 about 9 am. I ordered the pickup about January 9 and it was probably built first part of March, then just waiting for EPA mileage to get shipped to dealer it seems.

That’s great news. The latest I got was that the one I have coming in has been invoiced and my sales guy is waiting to hear when it arrives in PA to pick it up to get it to me faster.

I’m happy for you guys who have your truck. I ordered mine the first day GM was accepting orders in early December. Mine was built on February 3 and has been sitting in the same place since then. I guess GM works on a first in last out inventory basis. Maybe they will label mine a 2024 model.

Has anyone gotten any info from GMC about this delay?
Denali ordered 1st week of Dec. Last email from GMC said it has been built: nothing but crickets for 5 weeks now. Dealership is of no help.

Anybody know anything else about the shipping delays. Mine has been showing that it has moved. I a guessing that means from one parking spot to another.

CANCEL your Canyon order!!! 2017 Canyon owner here, 6 yrs, 65k. Blowen engine! Replaced engine… $11k, transmission slipping… changed to high Performance transmission fluid, $600. Engine light back on! Now, it’s the computer that’s causing all the problems! New computer, $1200. Transmission STILL NOT RIGHT, new tork converter $600 (that’s with GM paying 60%)
I have not had this truck in my driveway for over 2 months!
Next stop…. The Toyota dealer!!! -

Still waiting for any information on my truck ordered in November. Got word from GM that it was on the move a month ago. I figured they changed the parking place. Quit honestly this sucks.

A buddy I work with told me he thinks he seen my truck at the dealership on his way home. I told him that couldn’t be it because the status from the dealer was showing it’s still at Wentzville. He drove by it on the way home and snapped a pic for me and text me. It was a Canyon in my color so I told him to snap a pic of the VIN and he sent me that. I crossed referenced the VIN to the VIN my sales guy gave me for my truck and it matched.
I text my sales guy and he told his manager. When he contacted the sister dealer they were playing it off as if it wasn’t delivered and also were trying to play games as if it wasn’t sold to me yet. He wound up going to the sister location to pick up the truck and bring it to the dealership. I went that night to sign the papers for it and drove it home.
My dealership didn’t even know it was delivered until I notified my sales guy. The order in their system still showed it bring in Wentzville.
This all took place last Tuesday the 2nd of May. The crazy thing about it was that the supplier discount code I had gotten from my company was set to expire on May 3. I thought it was good until December. Worked out.
2023 Canyon Elevation in Desert Sand Metallic – no spray in liner, no leather seats, no blind spot detection.
I don’t care about the leather seating, would be nice but not necessary. The spray in liner i’ll get done locally and I bought little stick on mirrors that are pretty close in shape to the larger mirrors that can get mounted to my driver and passenger mirror to help with the blind spots just as extra safety.
Love the truck. Already used the bed to bring home two empty wooden wire reels for a project, transported a weber grill from a family member to my house that I refurbished and a load of stone. Feels good.

While I can’t speak for the exact reasons behind the delay, it’s possible that there could be legitimate issues or complications in obtaining the EPA mileage rating. Sometimes, unforeseen challenges arise in the certification process, which can cause delays. However, I can understand why you might be skeptical and think there could be a purposeful creation of a false supply shortage.
If the delay is indeed intentional, as you suspect, it could be a strategy to create a sense of scarcity in order to drive up demand and subsequently increase selling prices. This tactic, unfortunately, isn’t uncommon in the business world, and it’s aimed at maximizing profits for both GM and the dealerships.
