Twin-Turbo LS GMC Sierra Brings Boxy, Blacked-Out Style To SEMA

Gas Monkey Garage (GSG) has pulled the wraps off its latest creation: a fully customized, twin-turbo LS-powered GMC Sierra known simply as “The Black Truck.” The folks at GSG unveiled their high-powered pickup in Las Vegas at the recent SEMA Show, flaunting a bold widebody design and some impressive specs. Highlights include 1,600 horsepower and 16-inch rear rubber.

According the LSX Magazine, the build required no less than three separate GMC Sierra pickups to complete, with components from each truck contributing to the final product. For example, the frame was sourced from one truck, the cab from another, and sheet metal from all three.

The exterior transformation is hard to miss. Sporting a short bed design with a widebody stance, the truck rides on staggered rolling gear. Up front, this pickup sits on 12-inch-wide tires, while the rear packs massive 16-inch-wide tires. The oversized rear fender flares were adapted from a Chevy C3500 dually and modified to create a seamless look, adding to the truck’s hulking presence.

Under the hood, this beast is powered by a Texas Speed and Performance “Reaper” LS V8 engine, specially outfitted to deliver over 1,600 horsepower. The engine features an iron six-bolt Dart block, a Callies eight-counterweight crank, forged Compstar Extreme rods, and Wiseco forged aluminum pistons. With 285cc LS-based cylinder heads and a Plazmaman billet intake manifold, the V8 was built to handle high boost levels without a fuss. To that end, the V8 is force-fed by twin Hellion 66/62 turbochargers and an Aeromotive fuel system, with spent gasses exiting through Magnaflow XMod mufflers and quad exhaust tips.

Supporting the monstrous powertrain is a Quick Performance Fab9 rear end, while a Billet Turbo 400 transmission channels power to the wheels. Handling and braking upgrades include a Ridetech suspension system and Wilwood brakes, ensuring that this GMC Sierra stay in line.

The end result is an eye-popping appearance and the specs to match. The fact it was completed in just 50 days makes it that much more impressive.

  1. Beautiful truck, love the gmt400 front end and dually box, couldn’t have picked a better style for the overall look. No mention of drive train though, with all that horsepower. I hope it’s not just going to the rear wheels. Auto 4wd system from a GMT 900 truck would be kick ass. Neck snapping acceleration for sure with that system. Just a thought, unless it’s already setup.
