Crashed Chevy Camaro Sets Fire To Palm Trees In California: Video

A new viral video shows the aftermath of a serious injury accident in Southern California involving a Chevy Camaro. The Camaro is seen utterly destroyed, while smoldering bits of the engine spark a fire that send two adjacent palm trees up in smoke. The video also shows the driver conscious while inside the vehicle, although the driver’s current condition is not known.

Fire fighters work to extinguish a blazer caused by a wrecked Chevy Camaro.

According to several reports, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, around 7:40 a.m. local time. The Chevy Camaro was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 around National City, which is located just south of San Diego.

According to witness accounts, the Chevy Camaro was seen speeding and weaving through traffic before it exited the roadway and collided with a pair of palm trees on the shoulder. The collision absolutely demolished the Camaro, with footage from the scene showing the Chevy sports car left in a tangled mess of metal. The engine was also ejected, landing between the two palm trees and lighting a fire that spread to the adjacent trees.

Witnesses stopped to try and help the driver, who remained trapped inside the destroyed vehicle, but were unable to extract him. Firefighters and first responders later arrived, extinguishing the blaze while attempting to extract the injured driver. Fire fighter crews took approximately 20 minutes free the driver from the vehicle.

Incredibly, the driver remained conscious. Footage from the scene shows the driver in pain as firefighters rush to extract him from the vehicle, with blood seen around the driver’s abdomen. After he was extracted, the driver was rushed to a local hospital, and his condition is currently unknown.

CHP are now investigating the incident. It’s believed that the driver may have been operating while under the influence.

The video is quite dramatic, showing the destroyed Chevy Camaro, the injured driver, and the palm trees as they go up in flames. Let the video serve as a reminder – slow down, and don’t get behind the wheel if you are under the influence.
