As part of the rollout of its zero-emission vehicle strategy in the region, General Motors announced the imminent debut of the Chevy Equinox EV in the Middle East.
The company has just announced that the Chevy Equinox EV will make its regional debut in the Middle East during the 2024 Kuwait Auto World Show, which will be held in the Arab country from September 23rd to the 28th. This will be the Equinox EV’s first official appearance in a Southwest Asian country and will provide an exclusive sneak peek of the next-generation electric crossover’s key features to regional customers, ahead of its local introduction in 2025.
“Building on the success of the popular gas-powered Equinox, the Equinox EV elevates style, space, safety, and value with a fresh, dynamic design and electrifying performance,” said GM Middle East Communications Department. “Powered by GM’s advanced Ultium battery technology and a remarkable driving range, the Equinox EV is engineered to provide a seamless, confident and uncompromising transition to electric driving,” the company added.
Notably, this is the first time that GM has officially announced and confirmed the arrival of the Chevy Equinox EV in the Middle East since the zero-emission crossover’s global debut in January 2022. As such, the Equinox EV becomes the second Chevrolet Ultium-based electric vehicle that the automaker has confirmed for the region following the Chevy Blazer EV, which was announced a couple of years ago and is yet to be launched in the regional market.
In fact, the Bow Tie brand confirmed that the Chevy Equinox EV will be introduced in the Middle East exclusively with the sporty RS trim level and an extensive list of class-leading features as standard. This includes the 85 kWh Ultium battery providing a driving range of up to 513 Km or 319 miles on a single charge, the 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in, a slew of advanced drive assist systems and OnStar services.
The Chevy Equinox EV will be shown to the Middle East public for the first time next week at the 2024 Kuwait Auto World Show, where customers and regional press will be able to experience the vehicle’s attributes ahead of its commercial introduction. The Equinox EV will be launched in countries across the region during the first half of next year and is expected to play a prominent role in GM’s mission to offer an electric vehicle for every budget.

Finally caught a brief glance of one on the road before it turned away. I almost didn’t recognize it as the back end looks different compared to the press images. It was a little bit larger than I thought it would be. It looked quite nice.
