Although the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro is now officially discontinued, there are still a few examples out there. Funny enough, that includes a convertible model offered as part of a sweepstakes giveaway from a gas station in New York. That said, the sweepstakes is seemingly never ending. Now, it looks like that is about to change.
According to a report from News 12 Westchester, a Fuelco gas station has had a sixth-generation Chevy Camaro on display in front of the gas station for several years now, with promises to give the car away in a sweepstakes. However, the deadline to win the car came and went, and yet, the drop-top remains parked on a pedestal in front of the Fuelco gas station.
The vehicle in question is a post-facelift sixth-generation convertible covered in Shock paint, indicating that it is an example from either the 2020 or 2021 model year. The News 12 report states that in order to be eligible to win, entrants are required to fill out an online form and download the Fuelco mobile app. The sweepstakes information on the Fuelco website previously indicated that the sweepstakes would end in November of 2023. However, the Camaro has been sitting outside the gas station for so long, locals have begun to complain to state authorities, prompting involvement from the Attorney General’s office.
In a response, Fuelco General Manager Bryan Orser explained that the November 2023 end date was in fact for a different location. The contest end date has since been changed to September 15th, 2024. Nevertheless, some entrants are left wondering if their entries from years prior are still valid.
While the added scrutiny will hopefully get the Chevy Camaro off the pedestal and onto the road, locals are joking online that the car likely won’t start due to sitting for so long. Regardless, here’s to hoping that whoever does finally win this thing can enjoy it for all its worth.

When is General Motors going to start production of the old Chevelle again. I owned a 1966 SS Chevelle. I made big mistake selling it many years ago. I would love to be able to purchase another one, only from General Motors. Why don’t they make the old styles again. In the 60’s and 70’s the cars were the best ever to be manufactured. I own a 2018 Silverado High Country, 2011 Equinox and 2021 Buick Enclave.
