This Nissan Frontier With Chevy Silverado HD Dually Box Has Us In Awe

Sometimes, you have to work with what you’ve got. Sure, it might not be ideal, but with a little massaging and effort, you may be surprised at what you can create. This Nissan Frontier certainly had us doing a double-take, given it now sports a Chevy Silverado HD Dually Box in back.

A Nissan Frontier with a Chevy Silverado HD box.

Spotted north of Montréal, Québec, this intriguing Nissan Frontier is a unique hybridization of two distinctly different vehicles, showcasing an impressive, albeit unconventional, custom modification. The Frontier, typically known for its midsize dimensions and utilitarian functionality, has been dramatically transformed by the addition of the much larger, more robust Silverado HD dually pickup bed.

The details of how this vehicle came to be are not entirely clear, but it seems plausible that the chassis of the Frontier and the Chevy Silverado HD were welded together somehow. Alternatively, the entire Silverado HD box may have been mounted onto a modified Frontier frame, which was then equipped with a dual-wheel axle in back. Whatever the method, the customization work required to align the cargo bed with the Frontier’s narrower cabin – noticeable near the fuel filler door – suggests a good deal of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Double points for the strap-on mirrors, added for extra visibility around the extra-wide hips.

The Nissan Frontier involved in this particular customization likely offered a choice of several different powertrains, including a 2.4L I4 engine with 143 horsepower, a 3.3L V6 producing either 170 or 180 horsepower, depending on the model year, or a supercharged 3.3L V6 offering up to 210 horsepower. For a project of this magnitude, one would hope the more-powerful V6 propels this transformed vehicle, considering the additional weight from the Chevy Silverado HD box and the dual rear wheels.

Parked in front of a liquor store and taking up multiple parking spots, this Frontier-Silverado hybrid surely turns heads and might even inspire other automotive enthusiasts to embark on similar projects. Whether you think it’s a masterpiece or a mere curiosity, you have to give it up to the builder to have the guts to even attempt such a creation.

  2. Hahaha. When the traditional goob stuff like the required over-sized tires, huge fender flairs and of course let us not forget the obligatory drop-down hitch and ball just won’t do. What then do you do? This! The ultimate goob job.

  3. To my knowledge, welding a frame is not within law/ regulations in Quebec.Once spotted by SAAQ Controle routier, he could have problems going trough an inspection. Would have been nice to hide the license plate. Now, will this end up stolen and ship
