Refreshed 2025 Acura MDX Debuts As Cadillac XT6 Rival

Acura has unveiled the refreshed MDX crossover, debuting several changes and updates for the Japanese brand’s flagship three-row SUV. Highlights include new exterior styling, a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen, enhanced audio, new driver assist tech, and more. The refreshed 2025 Acura MDX is slated to arrive in dealers next month, and when it does, it will rival the Cadillac XT6.

Outside, the refreshed 2025 Acura MDX introduces a more aggressive front fascia, which is anchored by a new diamond pentagon grille. Darker headlights and taillights complement the redesigned face, while new wheel designs further distinguish the 2025 MDX from its predecessor.

Moving inside, the 2025 Acura MDX boasts a tech-rich cabin headlined by a new 12.3-inch touchscreen user interface with Google built-in. The 2025-model-year refresh also introduces upgraded audio performance across the trim level lineup, including a standard 11-speaker, 8-channel system and available 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen system. Customers who opt for the MDX Type S and Advance Package will enjoy a 31-speaker Bang & Olufsen system, the most powerful audio system Acura has ever offered.

There’s also a long list of safety and driver assistance technologies on hand. For example, the MDX Type S debuts the AcuraWatch 360, a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistive technologies that leverage additional front corner radars, a higher-fidelity front camera, and new front millimeter wave radar to enhance driving safety and convenience. All other trims get standard AcuraWatch, which was updated for the 2025 model year.

Under the hood, the 2025 Acura MDX cradles a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 rated at 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, motivation in the sporty MDX Type S is derived from a turbocharged 3.0L V6 rated at 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Both models are equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission, although the transmission in the Type S is “Sport Tuned.” The standard MDX offers all-wheel drive as optional, while the Type S equips all-wheel drive as standard.

  1. It seems that it more than “rivals” the XT6. Other than the old edition of Super Cruise and real leather seating, I don’t think the Acura is out spec’d by the Cadillac. Too bad cadillac hasn’t kept the XT5 and XT6 up to date.

  2. The XT6 is outdated trash, same as the acadia. Maybe they’ll get the heated seats to work in the next generation
