GM just announced that it was appointing Norm de Greve as the company’s new senior vice president and chief marketing officer. De Greve will assume his new position on July 31st, 2023, reporting to GM President Mark Reuss. De Greve previously served at CVS Health and Digitas.
Prior to joining the ranks at GM, de Greve served as chief marketing officer at CVS Health, a position he held since 2015. During his tenure at CVS Health, de Greve helped to move the consumer health care company to sixth place on the Fortune 500, consistently gaining market share and establishing the highest national reputation in health care.
Before working at CVS Health, de Greve served in a variety of positions at digital marketing firm Digitas, including president of the Boston and Detroit offices, where he spent several years working to advance digital marketing with GM. De Greve worked at Digitas between 2001 and 2014, and helped to establish the company as a world leader in digital marketing.
De Greve also has experience in investment management and management consulting, and has been recognized with a number of different accolades, including the Most Creative People in Business award from Fast Company, the Most Innovative CMOs in The World award from Business Insider, and an Emmy Award. De Greve holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ithaca College and an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
“Norm is an experienced marketing leader with a proven track record of building brands and supporting business growth in a digital world,” said GM President Reuss. “His broad background, including time spent at Digitas working with GM, is the perfect fit as we continue our technology-driven transformation.”
In other GM executive news, General Motors announced last month that Lin-Hua Wu would join the automaker as the new senior vice president and chief communications officer. Wu will assume her new position in August.

You have got to be kidding me! What, they couldn’t find a toothpaste guy?
Once again a person in charge who has no idea what a real car is. Doubt that he has gained any performance education in cars working at CVS.
Apparently GM did not learn from the Ron Zarrella debacle!
And all the outside brand marketing executives he brought in that were all gone in less than four years. One of them put the final nail in the coffin at Oldsmobile.
Hilarious! An 18 year old influencer would have been a better pick. 🤣
WTF is GM doing? Might as well they promoted a young marketing officer from within GM itself
What ! They need someone the has the best interests of the AMERICAN CAR buyer in the priority of their decisions. Also to NOT cater to China only.
lol, THE ONLY THING HE KNOWS ABOUT CARS ARE WHERE TO GET A UBER AND TAXI. SHOWS CONFIDENCE IN GM FROM HIRING FROM WITHIN. WAIT, I THINK I SAW A CVS SPONSOR ON A NASCAR RACING TEAM ONE TIME.
