General Motors unveiled the 2024 Chevy Trax last October, pulling the sheets on an all-new generation for the entry-level crossover nameplate. Now, we’re investigating how the 2024 Chevy Trax measures up to another small GM crossover, namely the all-new 2024 Buick Envista.
In this GM Authority Dimensional Comparison, we’ll focus exclusively on the exterior of the 2024 Chevy Trax and 2024 Buick Envista.
From the off, we should mention that both the 2024 Chevy Trax and 2024 Buick Envista ride on similar underpinnings, namely the GM VSS-F vehicle set. As such, it bears to reason that these crossovers would have relatively similar dimensions, as well.
This is true, for the most part, although there are a few differences in the exterior dimensions worth pointing out. The biggest difference is in regard to overall length, where the 2024 Buick Envista is a full 4 inches longer than the 2024 Chevy Trax, measuring in at 182.6 inches, as compared to an overall length of 178.6 inches for the 2024 Chevy Trax. The front and rear overhangs are also somewhat different, with the 2024 Chevy Trax incorporating an inch less front overhang, and 2.9 inches less rear overhang.
The rest of the exterior dimensions show less than an inch of difference, with the 2024 Chevy Trax measuring in with an extra 0.3 inches of overall width, an extra 0.2 inches to 0.5 inches of overall height (depending on configuration), an extra 0.2 inches of front track width, and an extra 0.5 inches of rear track width. The wheelbase measurements are identical between the two crossovers, measured at 106 inches for both models.

interestingly the overall length on the subcompact Envista is nearly that of the compact Equinox which is at 183. Love the Trax not so much a fan of the Envista.
Another interesting stat – hp and mpg. I haven’t seen figures for the Envista, so using the Trax (which has the same 1.2L engine) is 137 hp and 28/32 mpg. The base Nox has the 1.5L rated at 175 hp and 26/31 mgp.
The difference is that the Trax will cost considerably less and offer better MPG with close to the same performance
with FWD. And that is the whole point of the Trax to offer value.
Plus the Trax arguably is a better looking vehicle in base and all through the trim ranges and when you ad in the tech it becomes a more compelling value
The Trax looks like a shrunken Blazer. The Envista wants to look like a Tesla in the back, but reminds me of an update of the Regal Touring wagon they made a few years ago.
I like the Envista but I prefer the Trax. Why? Various reasons but primarily because it’s a bit smaller. Not so much, I know, but in my case the smaller the better. Many may disagree, but I speak for myself. ♐
How much do these fat kids weigh?
I saw a 2024 LT Trax, yesterday. Very impressive for $25,000. The best part is NO CVT. Very nicely done GM. The Trax is no longer boring transportation.
Love the new Trax. Ordered the Trax RS1 in red and it looks fantastic. Will arrive between October and December. Long wait.
Anybody know if there is a difference in driver seat height btw the 2? Wife is 5 ft and would prefer the buick but not if she is sitting lower.
