With an enormous car collection that seems more fitting in a fairy tale than real life, Jay Leno is one of most well-known and popular faces in the automotive world. Known professionally as a comedian and television host, Leno also hosts his own automotive show, Jay Leno’s Garage. Unfortunately, he was recently involved in an incident related to one of his vehicles.

Last Saturday, one of Leno’s cars abruptly erupted into flames without warning. According to a report by TMZ, the fire burned the left side of his face, but did not penetrate his eyes or ears.
“I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet,” Leno said in a statement.

In a later report, Leno explained that he was fixing a clogged fuel line on his 1907 White Steam Car when one of the fuel lines burst, dosing him in gasoline. Almost immediately, a spark was given off and set the comedian on fire.
Leno credits his survival to his friend, who acted quickly and jumped on him, effectually smothering and putting out the fire.

The former Tonight Show host was taken by ambulance to the burn ward at Grossman Burn Center. Not much is known about his current condition, but it was serious enough to require his admission into the hospital. It is believed Leno suffered third-degree burns and may need a few skin grafts.
Leno was scheduled to attended The Financial Brand conference the next day, on Sunday, but organizers sent an email to attendees that he had canceled, citing a grave medical emergency. In fact, Leno has canceled all of his engagements for the next two weeks as he recovers from his severe burns.

I pray that Jay recovers well. He is a true and avid electric car fan, even if he has over a hundred gas powered cars in his collection. His daily driver was an original Chevy Volt.
Mr. Leno is a “true and avid electric car fan” because he has a truckload of money to waste on them. You could have simply wished him well like others have done without your Trolling crap about energy-hogging, battery-powered Bidencars but that wouldn’t have pleased your EV lobbyist pals.
BTW the Volt is not an electric per se.. it has gas motor JIC the battery fails you..

I’m not into the Hollywood types, but the one person I admire and feel is not pretentious like most is Jay Leno. The fact that he’s a true car guy is great.

Wishing Jay a speedy recovery. He is a great and avid car guy and just a nice all around guy. I walked near him at Hershey and just waved hello to him from 10 yards away as not wanting to be a bother to him and he walked over to me and said hello to me and shook my hand. Hope all the best for him.

Having dealt with a Jay I can say he is the real deal. He is a real car guy that just made his money in Burbank.

A couple of years ago, Jay rolled over several times in the Hemi Under Glass and now this just happened. He may want to find a safer hobby if he wants to make it into old age.
