Chevrolet Argentina sales saw healthy growth in June after registering their first positive behavior in May, thereby ending the negative streak consisting of 12 consecutive months of being in the red. As such, last month’s growth represents Chevrolet’s second consecutive month of being in the green in the Argentine market amid ongoing challenges as a result of current industry restrictions.
As was the case in May, the remarkable improvement of nearly a thousand units experienced by Chevrolet in Argentina during June was the result of a substantial, triple-digit increase in the domestically-manufactured Chevy Cruze. The compact car range led Chevrolet’s growth during the month when compared to the rest of models imported from Brazil. In addition, the Chevy Tracker, S10 and Equinox also managed to increase their sales on a year-over-year basis.
In contrast, the Chevy Onix continues to see subpar performance in Argentina as a result of a combination of two factors. First is the ongoing difficulty that GM has faced in manufacturing the Onix range in Brazil. The second reason surrounds import restrictions imposed by Argentine authorities as a result of limited foreign exchange activity.
