New 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro To Rival GMC Terrain AT4

Kia has unveiled the all-new fifth-generation 2023 Sportage, and with it, the new Kia Sportage X-Pro, a trail-ready crossover equipped with a variety of off-roading-themed equipment. When it goes on sale early next year, the 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro will rival the GMC Terrain AT4.

Kia will offer two X-Pro models to rival the GMC Terrain AT4, namely the 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige, the latter of which includes more equipment and premium features.

Both models ride with an extra 1.5 inches of ground clearance, which is standard on all 2023 Kia Sportage AWD models. The new Sportage also has available all-terrain tires and a multi-terrain Mode AWD system. Under the hood is a 2.5L I4 gasoline engine, which feeds an eight-speed automatic transmission with 187 horsepower.

The 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro and X-Pro Prestige are identifiable by a few unique body and interior upgrades. Inside, there’s tread-pattern stitching and SynTex synthetic leather-shod seats, while outside, we find unique front and rear bumpers, plus satin chrome trim bits matched with glossy black. Up top are raised roof rack rails.

In the corners, the new GMC Terrain AT4 rival comes with exclusive 17-inch wheels finished in matte black and wrapped in BFGoodrich tires. There’s also a set LED fog lights and optional LED projector headlights, the latter of which are standard on X-Pro Prestige, and an available two-tone roof.

Further exterior design features include a revised Tiger Nose grille design, boomerang-shaped daytime running lights, notch-shaped taillights, and angular fenders. Kia also claims best-in-class rear-seat legroom and and rear cargo volume. Standard spec adds in eight Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including 360-degree Surround View Monitor with 3D View, and a Blind Spot Monitor in the instrument cluster.

In addition to the X-Pro and X-Pro Prestige, the complete 2023 Kia Sportage lineup also includes the LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Line. The 2023 Kia Sportage will go on sale in the U.S. in Q1 of the 2022 calendar year.

    1. What is that front end? It looks like it was born with its eyes crossed

  2. A lot of people rave over Hyundai’s/Kia’s interiors, but I find them too sterile. Take the nav screen, for example. It’s a large screen, which is great, but look at how all of the icons in the picture use the same color. Now you need to read the super tiny labels underneath each one, which defeats the purpose of having a large screen. It’s hard to put my emotional reaction into words, but I really prefer the GMC Terrain’s interior over this.

    1. Except GM’s first-party Infotainment 3 icons are the exact same… black and white. You get a color halo around climate, phone, nav, and music, which is pointless since those icons are permanently on the bottom of the screen anyway.

      1. You’re thinking of the taskbar. GM’s home screen displays a much larger image of those apps with the color rings. GM’s system also employ better contrast with white/gray on a blue/black background, which I find more legible. Everyone’s mileage may vary, but sometimes less is more and I appreciate big buttons so I can jab at the screen without looking.

  3. Kia and Hyundai offer premium looking vehicles (Sportage, K5, Santa Fe, Telluride) at a value price so kinda like getting a Terrain or Envision at the price of an Equinox.
GM must get better with interiors. The Korean brands look lush, modern and premium which Terrain looks to basic for the price.

  5. No please don’t buy a Kia… Lol 😂 actually I think the Terrain and this Kia are both butt ugly and not worth the money.

  6. Big difference is Kia offers 2 engines. One natural and one turbo. Along with a 10 year drive train warranty.

    1. And even if you don’t dig the adventurous styling, it’s at least vastly more interesting in and out than an Equinox.
