Chevy Silverado Electric Pickup Truck To Be Unveiled At CES 2022

The upcoming Chevy Silverado electric pickup truck will be unveiled at CES 2022 (Consumer Electronics Show) during the opening keynote delivered by General Motors CEO Mary Barra on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022.

In addition to the reveal, the brand has also confirmed that the Silverado electric pickup will feature an available segment-leading fixed-glass roof for retail models, offering expansive visibility, increased headroom, and an enhanced experience of spaciousness for both front and rear passengers. Notably, this is the first application of an available fixed-glass roof on a GM pickup in the full-size truck segment.

In addition to the fixed-glass roof, Chevrolet has previously confirmed the availability of four-wheel steering, a chassis feature that enables the vehicle to steer all four wheels. In a statement, Chevy said the electric Silverado’s available four-wheel steering system will give the truck “increased agility and tighter turning radius at low speeds, improved handling and stability at higher speeds, as well as great trailering dynamics.”

The electric Silverado will also offer customers a GM-estimated range of more than 400 miles on a full charge. Like all next-gen EVs, the Chevy Silverado electric pickup truck will utilize Ultium components, including Ultium batteries and Ultium drive motors.

In addition to four-wheel steering, Chevy also confirmed this week the electric Silverado will have available 24-inch wheels. Back in 2019, GM design chief Michael Simcoe revealed the automaker was moving towards having 24-inch and even 26-inch wheels on some of its production vehicles in a bid to make its products more eye-catching and appealing.

“Designed as an EV from the ground up, the Silverado electric pickup harnesses the best of the Ultium Platform and Silverado’s proven capability,” the automaker said in a statement. “The fleet and retail versions of the electric Silverado will offer customers a variety of options and are expected to be in high demand.”

While we’ve yet to see the final product, GM Authority did create its very own rendering of the upcoming electric pickup truck.

  1. That overhead shot reminds me of the Celestiq teasers from the last CES. I was certain we would see it unveiled at the investor conference today but I guess we’re waiting a little longer.

    1. Why would they show it to you? You act like you are some huge investor that makes a difference to them.

  2. Cannot wait to see the Silverado EV
I feel like this will destroy the F-150 Lighting

    1. Lol dude stop getting high

    2. This isn’t about destroying the competition. But rather enticing current and future customers that electric fits their needs, and foots the bill enough, or better than current ICE models. That’s exactly what GM needs to do. Offer more features on their EV models, that are unavailable on their ICE models.

    3. If the amount of power is anywhere near that of the upcoming Hummer EV depending on Trim Level and tech innovation measures, it’s very possible that the Lighting could get a run for it’s money, let’s just hope the exterior design is not too far off from the current Silverado and doesn’t take the “Cartoonish” EV approach.

  3. Count me in on this one, please don’t make it ugly gm. Also, please make it affordable and not Hummer expensive.

    1. I agree. If they want to convince buyers to transition over to electric, it must be affordable. But where we are heading with inflation, I doubt it will be reasonable.

      1. I disagree. Performance/range/utility are what should drive this. Don’t do the typical GM move of building to a price point.

    2. Lol your broke. The hummer is priced right where it should be gm doesn’t want slobs driving their nice vehicles and I don’t blame them.

      1. So…..what do “Slobs” have to do with pricing? One can be a slob at any income level.

    1. The Chevrolet Silverado EV will beat the F-150 Lightning in range, charging, acceleration, and likely capability. F-150 Lightning is just a regular ICE F-150 converted to an EV. Mark Reuss said that the Chevrolet Silverado EV will start production at Factory Zero after the GMC Hummer EV SUV, which is early 2023.

  5. Shockandawe: The Chevrolet Silverado EV was shown at the Barclays Investor Conference and CES 2021. Silverado EV will feature an LED lightbar with the Chevy Bowtie emblem illuminated, it’s nearly the size of the Hummer SUV in height, and way longer.

    1. Wow that’s so innovating a light up bowtie emblem. I’m sure that will be the reason people will want this nothing cooler then a illuminated plus sign smack dab in the middle of your grill.

  6. Just remember gm, charging a premium over the competition will cost sales, just look at Mustang vs Camaro, besides looks, price was also a contributing factor in its demise.

  7. I’d like to see them do a GMC version….which, with this basic platform, probably wouldn’t be very difficult. I’ve long-felt that the GMC Sierra has a better-lookiing interior and a MUCH better looking front-end/grille than the various versions of the Silverado.

  8. Finally! GM is bringing back the rear steer. I have a 02 Denali with it. Best option for a truck imo. Wish it could have been available for 2020. I kept waiting to replace my truck hoping for this feature.

  10. I’m excited for this. Make me cancel my Rivian reservation GM!

    Reply
    1. Just be honest and say you can’t afford the rivian.

      Reply
      1. I can afford it or the Silverado. As of now my plan is to go through with the Rivian purchase, but if this arrives before my slot comes up, and has similar range/performance/versatility to the Rivian, I would prefer a Silverado. I have only ever bought Chevy trucks, and this could be what keeps that trend going. If not, I will take my money elsewhere.

  11. I’d like to see a smaller pickup EV at a reasonable price point. Not everyone needs or wants a full size behemoth of a truck.

    1. Cool just wait for the maverick then.

      1. That is what I am waiting on but I would rather buy a GM product if the offered one.

  12. What about Erado for nameplate?

    1. What about no.

  13. If I buy an electric pickup and there is a long term power outage due to: hurricane, flood, forest fire, cyber attack, ice storm, snow storm, tornado etc. what do we do for transportation?

    Reply
    1. Fire up your backup generator and give it a little charge.. you can’t get gas in your scenario either unless you have it in cans… in which case, dump it in your generator.. generators are pretty cheap Dave.

      Reply
    2. Keep in mind that, during a power outage, most gas-pumps won’t work, either……unless the station has back-up generators. And, also don’t forget, the generators also use gas, so the stations can only use them as back-ops for so long, as long as the emergency gas doesn’t run out.
