Vintage trucks are still hot in the collector car market, as are restomods, and restomod vintage trucks are just too cool for school. This 1949 Chevy 3100 short-bed five-window pickup has been the subject of a remarkable build, and will soon be headed to auction.
This 1949 Chevy 3100 has been painted in Medium Poly Metallic Green paint. The finish shows great care in prep and execution. The sheet metal bed is all new, with a complete replacement from MAR-K. The bed rails have been capped and the stake pockets are no more. The bed floor is covered in curly maple with a Smoked Mocha finish and multiple coats of satin clear. Bed strips are boltless and well polished. The fuel tank has been relocated beneath the bed, and the filler is a polished flat cap on the driver’s side of the truck bed.
The interior of our featured Chevy 3100 has been stylishly transformed as well. Highlander Avocado Green plaid fabric is framed by black leather on the bench seat and door panels. The center of the seat now features a handy cupholder. Vintage Air handles the climate control duties. A custom D-shaped steering wheel fits atop the tilt steering column. Classic Instruments gauges have been fitted in the black leather-wrapped dash.
A 5.3-liter LS V8 resides in the Chevy 3100’s tidy engine bay. A custom fabricated engine cover and the valve covers have been painted in a matching Medium Poly Metallic Green with black stripes, and makes for a striking first impression. A power brake booster has been fitted, as well as a modern aluminum radiator. The engine bay has been smoothed, with the bodywork in front of the radiator done in Highlander Avocado Green, and the fenders and firewall painted in satin black.
The undercarriage of the Chevy 3100 features an independent front suspension, a four-link rear, and full air ride suspension with wireless control module. Power disc brakes are hidden by the polished U.S. Mags Bonneville billet wheels which are staggered 18-inch in front, 20-inch in the rear. New smooth running boards have been installed. The door glass is now a single piece, with the vent windows being eliminated. All new weatherstripping has been installed throughout.
This Chevy 3100 will be on offer at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, AZ, auction this March 20th-27th

Beautiful! Like the bench seat idea.
Man that’s Beautiful, great job that green pops
Needs a little gloss black maybe pinstriping to set it off though.
Really nice…great job.
Beautiful truck! That green just makes it.. Great job!
Unfortunately the truck has been highly modified and looks terrible. I own a 1951 3/4 ton that has been restored to nearly original.
Love it’s old school with update power
