It’s safe to say that 2020 has not been an amazing year for most folks. Mass social unrest, financial market instability and a global pandemic are enough to make even the most even-keeled of people want to unplug and get away from it all – which is likely part of the reason why RV sales and rentals are currently booming.
Those who can sympathize with the urge to go off-grid for a little while may be interested in this used 1974 Chevrolet LUV Mikado, which is currently for sale at a dealership in Florida. Many pickups are used as daily drivers and work vehicles, so it can be difficult to come across a vintage truck as clean as this one. What’s more, this truck is a true survivor and has not been restored, but simply very well taken care of.
The pickup has just 63,005 actual miles on the odometer and, according to the listing, has always been kept in a climate-controlled storage facility. The 1.8L four-cylinder engine and four-speed manual transmission are in perfect working order and are ready to take the truck’s new owner sightseeing all across America, while the working AM radio, dealer-installed 8-track player as well as working heating and A/C promise to keep them entertained and comfortable along the way.
As for the Camborac-brand camper shell, it was installed by the dealership when the vehicle was sold new from Eddie Hopper Chevrolet in Garden Grove, CA. It is fairly bare-bones inside, but it does come with a cushioned bed and a fold-out table. Someone with the tools and know-how could easily transform the camper into a more better-equipped and more modern living space, but we like the vintage and slightly rustic look it has right now, to be honest. Meanwhile, the cabin of the truck is deliciously 1970s with its blue knitted upholstery, blue carpet and black vinyl dash.
Check out the listing for this mint 1974 Chevrolet LUV at this link. The dealership is asking $17,900 for it, which is a lot for a Chevrolet LUV, but then again, most don’t look nearly as nice as this one.
