Buick Encore sales decreased 5.88 percent to 21,112 units in the third quarter of 2018 while increasing 7.7 percent in the first nine months of 2018 to 69,747 units. The results aren’t very promising, given the market’s shift toward crossovers and away from other vehicle types, such as sedans. So in what could be an effort to potentially increase Encore sales, Buick has introduced two attractive incentives for October 2018.
The Incentive
The nationwide Buick Encore incentives for October 2018 are as follows:
- 20 percent below MSRP when financing with GM Financial
- Applies to all Encore models
- 0 percent APR for 72 months + $1,000 cash allowance when financing with GM Financial
- Excludes the base Encore (1SV) models
Buick provides the following example of the 20 percent discount offer on a 2018 Buick Encore Premium:
- $1,185 price reduction below MSRP + $5,321 Purchase Allowance = $6,506 Below MSRP
For the sake of reference, here are the Encore trim levels and their corresponding MSRPs:
- Encore (1SV) – $23,985
- Preferred (1SB) – $25,395
- Sport Touring (1SH) – $26,595
- Preferred II (1SD) – $27,895
- Essence (1SL) – $30,095
- Premium (1SN) – $31,595
Shoppers should also note that some customers may not qualify for this offer, and that it is not available with special finance, lease, and some other offers.
Disclaimers
- Must take delivery by October 31, 2018.

- Incentive for the United States of America, unless otherwise specified.

About Buick Encore
The Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover utility vehicle (CUV). It slots below the Envision as Buick's smallest CUV and rides on the GM Gamma 2 platform shared most directly with the Chevrolet Trax; a variant of the architecture is also shared with the Chevrolet Sonic/Aveo. The model was Buick's first offering in the subcompact (B segment) crossover space.
Having launched for the 2013 model year in the U.S., the Trax received a refresh for the 2017 model year that consisted of all-new front and rear fascias, an updated interior, a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and more.
The 2018 Buick Encore represents the fifth model year of the first-generation Encore. The model receives several changes including one new exterior color, a cabin ionizer, capless fuel fill, and several package-level changes. The 2019 Encore got two new exterior colors, the deletion of the Preferred II (1SD) and Premium (1SN) trim levels, and a new Safety Package called Safety Package II. The 2020 model is expected to be the last model year of the current, first-generation Encore before an all-new, second-generation model arrives.
The Buick Encore is produced at the following GM plants:
- GM Bupyeong factory in Bupyeong-Gu, South Korea operated by GM Korea supplying North America
- GM Dongyue South in Yantai, Shandong, China operated by GM China and SAIC supplying China

Why does GM need to discount SUV’s ? Encore and Acadia are getting old and refreshes are not due until 2020. 2019 will be a poor sales year as the competition offers better value and better looks.
Why do they need to discount SUVs? Because the Encore is now the oldest model on the market, in a highly-competitive segment.
The Encore (and the Trax) will see complete redesigns in 2020… there will also be another variant for GMC.
Which factory does our so American Buick Encore come from? The Bupyeong factory or the Dongyue South? Why buy a Buick made in Korea or China when one can buy a BMW or Mercedes made in the USA? A vehicle that is actually engineered, not just some snap together kit from Asia? MAGA.

The Gov’t should stop subsidizing meat and instead subsidize domestically made EVs and solar panels.

Article updated to answer your question.
To answer your politically-loaded question: where do the profits go for BMW or Mercedes models, regardless of assembly location? Where do the profits go for GM models? Follow the money and you’ll find wisdom. Or something.
Does the Premium model exist? The top of the article shows the list price, but later in the article, it says it was discontinued. ???
Nate,
The incentive in question is for the 2018 Buick Encore, which does offer the Premium model. It’s the 2019 model year that deletes the Premium trim.
Maybe if they were made in America more people would buy them.
This is a pretty good deal on one of Buick’s most popular models.
