2018 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV Gets Bundle Of Active Safety Features

Chevrolet has made the 2018 Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle an ever safer vehicle for officers after it announced a new active safety feature package on Monday.

The Enhanced Driver Assist Package will add five different active safety technologies with low speed forward automatic braking a first for any pursuit-rated vehicled. The system applies the brakes to help reduce a collision’s severity if the vehicle is traveling at a low speed and the system detects that a front-end collision is imminent.

Other technologies on board include:

  • Forward collision alert
  • Lane keep assist with lane departure warning
  • Safety alert driver seat
  • Power adjustable pedals

Chevrolet noted the benefits of forward collision alert and automatic braking, in particular. The IIHS said in 2017 that with both technologies combined, the rate of rear-end crashes decreased by 50 percent.

The brand updated its police fleet offerings quietly this past March and added the current-generation Impala to the PPV fleet. The car directly replaces the previous-generation Impala and the now-discontinued Chevrolet Caprice PPV.

  1. Will the automatic braking function be selectable, if not, so much for the PIT maneuver!

    1. ” low speed forward automatic braking” I’m thinking anything under 30.

  2. Will it also have the rear seat reminder? Don’t want to leave a suspect in a hot vehicle.

  3. Too bad is doesn’t come with the 6.2L V8 that will be available in the 2018 Tahoe RST.
