Chevrolet China has a wealth of new products arriving by the year 2020. 20 of them, to be specific. And when it comes to powering its vehicles, Chevrolet reiterated it has the Chinese consumer covered.
Across its lineup, Chevrolet now offers the widest range of engine displacements and transmission sizes available in China. From the most recently announced 1.0 and 1.3-liter turbocharged engines, to the mammoth 6.2-liter V8 engine and from four-speed to nine-speed transmission, the brand has a powertrain combination for any buyer.
“Chevrolet delivers propulsion systems for every purpose, whether it is the fuel efficiency of the Cruze or the performance driving experience of the Camaro,” said Michael Carman, GM China vice president, Global Propulsion Systems. “We conduct research three to seven years in advance to ensure the varying needs of customers are met and even exceeded.”
As mentioned, the brand will introduce a small-displacement 1.0-liter turbocharged engine later this year, with details surrounding the engine unknown at this time. The bigger news is GM’s new nine-speed automatic finding its way to 13 models in China, starting with the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox.
Across the lineup, consumers can find V6, V8 and plenty of four-cylinder engines to pair with a transmission of choice over the brand’s overarching product lineup. The V8 engine will be something new to China altogether, though. Last year, Chevrolet announced it would begin importing the Silverado full-size pickup for the first time ever, and will offer it with the automaker’s 6.2-liter V8 engine.
