By the time the 2018 Buick Enclave arrives, it will have been 10 years since the nameplate first went on sale. That means the current Buick Enclave has, in fact, been around for three U.S. presidents: George W. Bush, Barack Obama and current President Donald Trump.
That’s a lot of time and the Enclave has gotten longer in the tooth than anyone could have imagined. Yet, don’t fret. An all-new Enclave is coming very shortly, slated to debut at the 2017 New York International Auto Show. So, with just over a month before the wraps are taken off of it, we’re here to ask what you’d like to see from the 2018 Enclave.
There are a lot of areas to hone in on. Design, refinement, powertrain, amenities etc. We’re certain the 2018 Enclave will take a much more SUV-like profile, following in the footsteps of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The latest spy shots of the 2018 Enclave confirm this, showing a sleek, squared-off look over the bulbous profile found on the Enclave today.
As for refinement, the current Enclave’s interior is… dated. We’d expect the same inspiration found in the 2017 Buick LaCrosse to find a home in the 2018 Enclave. We also think the Enclave will make a move into an even more premium territory as the first North American vehicle to be placed under Buick’s new Avenir sub-brand, much like Denali is to GMC.
Is there anything you’re absolutely yearning for from the next-generation Buick Enclave? Talk to us in the comment section and vote in our poll below.

Adaptive cruise for sure. Richer materials as it is Buick’s flagship kinda. Self park at least since it is offered on the Envision. Surround vision as well.
If this vehicle is priced in the $60’s there is no chance that I am buying.
Best believe that’s happening as the current Envision is priced about the same as the current Enclave.. at least the Enclave Avenir will be priced about that range I think
1.) A much nicer interior. We went with the Enclave in 2014 over the Explorer specifically because of how much nicer the interior was at that time. Now, the Explorer has a very nice Platinum Interior…I’m not so sure we’d make the same decision right now. Also, I don’t think the interior of the Lacrosse improved enough (if at all). Either way the Chrysler 300 and Kia Cadenza are much nicer.
2.) A more efficient powertrain. I don’t really care about EPA ratings. I’m going to check real world ratings from multiple sources. The Enclave isn’t bad, but there are other vehicles of similar size and weight that are better and I know could be better still.
3.) A slightly roomier and more comfortable 3rd row….which I believe is already in the works.
Fords are junk.
Buick should have all their SUVs and CUVs as hybrid or EREV models.
What would be nice is a HUD , the old Acadia Denali version had one but the new version doesn’t . Buick could add it to the top of the line vehicle or offer it as standard . Alot of automakers are equipping there vehicles with it now , it’s almost a safety option . Having had it on a few of my own cars I love it .
Diamond stitching on the seats gives the interior a more upscale look .
Also not so many different types of materials which looks over-done , and a true tan leather not the pumpkin colored leather Cadillac uses as their Cinnamen trim name .
I’d say diamond stitching and something with frosted glass. Like in the Avenir subbrand. I wanted to see something akin to the Orresfors Crystal gearshift in the top line model. Different leather colors like stone or cranberry or Navy. Wood that is not in any other Buick or copper detailing to go with the Tan/Brown interior. Headlights that look intricate and jewel like. Also specialized colors. Maybe like the blue that the Avista came in.
Push-button start would be nice. My wife’s Verano has that and it’s quite nice. I have a 2010 Enclave. Overall, it’s been a nice vehicle. I would like more power, more comfortable and better-quality seating, an extra USB connection or two, and a better AC (mine keeps leaking freon through the line). I would also like Buick to quit cutting corners on quality. I’m paying for Buick quality.
I have had three Enclaves (currently have the third one). The navigation system is primitive and the screen is too small and the text too small and hard to read, the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento are much better. The seats are too low at the rear, too high at the front, and can’t be adjusted to fit properly. Raise the back of the seat an inch. I have the panoramic sunroof, you can’t block the overhead light because of the flimsy see through shield GM installs, which is irritating as hell to me and driving through a rainstorm is like sitting under a machine gun nest because of the rain hitting the sunroof. Also, you left out all the sound insulation in the doors, floor and roof of my 2017 Enclave, apparently there is a Bose ANC in it instead, but the Bose does NOT do the job of making this the quiet car it should be. The passive collision avoidance is not helpful, it should be an active one. The Bridgestone Duelers are noisy on every road surface and harsh riding. Make Michelins standard on this vehicle.
I am looking for a higher performance engine than a V-6 with 302 hp. Why can’t Buick make an Enclave and or Envision with a supercharged Turbo version like the Ford Explorer Sport or Platinum with a 365 hp engine?
Because not everyone buys an ecoboost V6 versions of the Explorer aka low take rate? And if GM was to do that it would be on either Acadia or Traverse
As a owner of a Buick Enclave and loving it, I was really expecting big things from the new version.
I really wanted to see them go with a full panoramic roof.
Even the Chevy Equinox has it ???
And keep the analog clock as a nice touch.
A hybrid powertrain for a higher mileage variant. Also how about more than 302 HP and 260 torque which is really weak for such a heavy vehicle. Even the outgoing version made more torque at 270. Why can’t they offer the 3.0TT on anything other than a cadillac at GM?
I think the 3.0TT is a Cadillac exclusive engine.
