Opel-Vauxhall Europe Sales Up 12 Percent To 102,600 Vehicles In May 2016

Sales of GM’s Opel and Vauxhall brands totaled 102,600 vehicles in Europe in May 2016, an increase of 12 percent year-over-year.

January 2016 – May 2016

In the first five months of the year, the brands’ sales increased over 8 percent, or 38,500 units compared to the first five months of 2015. The performance gives Opel-Vauxhall an increase in sales volume that surpasses the increase of 2015 only five months into the year.

By comparison, the overall European vehicle market grew 6.8 percent in the first five months of the year.

The fact that Opel-Vauxhall grew faster than the overall market gives it a 0.1 percentage point increase in market share to 5.9 percent over the course of the five months.

Markets

The brands registered an increase in registrations in 18 European markets in the first five months of 2016, allowing it to improve its market share in 15 European countries.

“The strong growth is the result of our young and attractive model portfolio.”, said Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales & Aftersales. “The new Astra is one of the keys to our success and we have already received over 200,000 orders for it from across Europe. The new Mokka X has been available for order for a few days and it will continue the success story of the shooting star Mokka. We are on the right track.”
