GM Canada Donates $100,000 To Red Cross To Support Alberta Fires Relief

GM Canada has donated $100,000 CAD to the Canadian Red Cross in an effort to support communities affected by the Alberta fires. GM Canada employees, dealers, distributors and GM Financial employees are also providing individual support for the Red Cross.

“On behalf of all of the extended GM Canada family, we admire and support the resiliency and determination of those individuals and families affected by the devastating fires in Alberta,” said Steve Carlisle, president and managing director of General Motors of Canada.  “We commend the efforts of everyone who have come to their aid and demonstrated overwhelming compassion to those in need.”

In addition to the monetary donation, OnStar Crisis Assist was made available for all OnStar customers in the Fort McMurray area; it was designed to assist customers in sever weather conditions or a crisis by providing OnStar emergency services to those in impacted areas.

Canadians wishing to help are encouraged to make a financial donation to the Alberta Fires Appeal online, by calling 1-800-418-1111 or by contacting their local Canadian Red Cross office.
