2016 Opel Astra Earns NCAP Five-Star Safety Rating

Opel has been happy to continue talking up the safety features, both active and passive, surrounding the 2016 Astra. But, the Euro NCAP has officially performed its testing. As Opel implied, the 2016 Astra is safe, earning the maximum five-star rating from the agency.

Opel stated its continuing objective remains to engineer its passenger vehicles for optimization in real-world traffic scenarios and in collisions.

The 2016 Opel Astra features a cabin shell designed for the least possible deformations, and most possible survival space inside. To accommodate the impact energy in case of a crash, the front, sides and rear of the passenger compartment are surrounded by energy absorption zones that deform and protect in a controlled manner.

Not only did the 2016 Opel Astra earn top marks overall, but it achieved high scores in each of the categories assessed – adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist.
