Comments
Is there any reason to the rise in price for the LS trim?
Do you mean “reason” like are there any new features? There aren’t any that are standard, save for the capless fuel filler.
That said, the Tahoe and Suburban are both becoming/being repositioned to be luxury vehicles, while crossovers like the Traverse offer more value.
Yeah, that is what I meant. Thanks
all gm cars prices must to the rise. gm must make money to and build better and better cars
Great SUV’s that are way overpriced. Imagine how much more market share they could take if GM just priced them competitively.
Profit margin has to be close to $30k per unit with all the cheapness installed, To everyone thinking the noisy power liftgate will work for more than five months, think again.
Although they are very expensive and I wish they weren’t, I still think they’re priced right. When new models came out in ’14 GM raised prices substantially but still held on to market share, even gained 2% market share between ’13 and ’14 with much more expensive trucks. As we stand today between Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon & Yukon XL GM holds 76% of Large SUV market share. That’s amazing!
Thru November of this year Yukon (short version) is outselling Expedition & Expedition EL (combined) for the first time ever.
Starting a family and would really love to have a new suburban or tahoe. How ever mid range LT 4×4 with a decent selection of options is over $60k. Even if you get it during a big sale with good promotions your looking at $50k+ out the door. How can most families afford that? I dont think I would want a car payment more then my mortgage. Plus to top it off suburbans and tahoes haven’t held much value.
Matt, like I said above, the Tahoe and Suburban are both becoming personal luxury items. If you are starting a family and need a large SUV/CUV, look a the Traverse. It offers what the Tahoe offers, but is more space efficient and and comfortable, especially for those in the third row, while also achieving better fuel economy. The only thing that the Tahoe/Suburban have on the Traverse is towing capacity… but given that most CUV and SUV owners do not user their vehicles to tow, that should not be much of a problem for most.
I have yet to see a Traverse in person but just a quick look on Chevy’s website and though it may be a good vehicle and offer much more bang for the buck, I dont care for the styling. The Tahoe/Suburban and full size trucks I think are great looking inside and out. Besides looks I do tow occasionally and really like how the suv’s share many parts with trucks. I’m guessing the front engine rwd/4×4 layout is more heavy duty and easier to work on. ~75hp / 100ft/lbs more, 1 mpg less, and slightly better turning radius. The Tahoe is much more attractive to me then the traverse.
Overall since the truck market is so flooded and I can find them discounted over $10k off (so ~$15k less then a tahoe, if not even less) I will likely end up with a crew cab truck. Or a Impala and just keep my 02 duramax for when I really need a truck.

Extremely well stated. You hit all the points!
