Show Your Love For Chevrolet And Star Wars With This Trippy C3 Corvette: eBay Find

Fans of the Star Wars franchise have to wait only a few more months before Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca and a slew of other characters both old and new return to the silver screen for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which will land in theaters December 18th, 2015. But the movie just isn’t quite enough for some hardcore fans, it seems. Just ask the artist who spent over 1,000 hours creating this specially-themed Star Wars Corvette.

Listed on eBay as the ‘1974 Chevrolet Corvette Star Wars’, this C3 was airbrushed in the full Star Wars livery in 1977, the year Star Wars: A New Hope celebrated its theatric release. Based on the photos, the paint seems to have held up quite well, despite its age.

Whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not, you have to appreciate the passion and work that went into the re-spray. Every single body panel was airbrushed freestyle with various colors like candy apples, pearl, silver, red, blue, yellow and more. Plus, more than 20 coats of hand rubbed lacquer were applied to the body, according to the listing.

Unfortunately, the car itself hasn’t lived a life quite as wild as the heroes and villains depicted on its flanks. At one point in time, it sat dormant in a garage for about 10-15 years. In spite of its protracted hibernation, the seller tells us a tune-up, interior refresh and leaky exhaust are the only major problems to be addressed.

Sure, slathering a C3 Corvette in Star Wars characters isn’t the most highbrow form of art, but who really cares when you can get such a unique and eye-catching Corvette? With that said, you’re probably best to use another car on date night… unless your date is a Star Wars fanatic.

Update: the C3 was removed on July 27. The reserve was not met after 72 bids. Too bad.

A far-too-tall Ontarian who likes to focus on the business end of the auto industry, in part because he's too tall to safely swap cogs in a Corvette Stingray.
