GMC Elevates To The Dark Side With The 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition

While the black truck in the photos appears to be Emperor Palpatine’s pickup of choice to pick up young and vulnerable Jedi knights, you’ll be pleased to know that the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation Edition is offered in more than one body color, saving it from the confusion of being referred to as the 2015 Sierra Carbon Edition, which is something different.

All-in-all, the 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition incorporates a body-colored grille surround, color-keyed door handles, mirror caps, side moldings and front and rear bumpers. This gives it a more monochromatic appearance a la Sierra Denali, but without the extra chrome. Elevation Edition models also feature premium LED headlamps, fog lamps, and black-painted 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

Content-wise, all 2015 GMC Sierra Elevation Edition models will come with remote keyless entry, power mirrors, a 110-volt AC power outlet, and LED cargo box lighting. The 2015 Sierra Elevation will also come with OnStar 4G LTE, and a 4.2-inch Intellilink color touchscreen infotainment system and Bluetooth phone connectivity as standard equipment. So far, the Elevation edition truck will launch with the 285 hp 4.3L V6 or optional 355 hp5.3L V8 EcoTec3 engines.

The 2015 Sierra Elevation Edition will be available at GMC dealerships by the end of 2014, with pricing to come at a later date.

  1. I like this de-chromed look, I don’t get why it’s named “Elevation” though, anyone know? Not that it’s a bad name.

It’s good that GM seems to be offering more trims (w/ different looks) than in the previous gen 1/2 tons, not just the W/T, LS, LT, LTZ.

    1. I was hoping for the same thing. Or maybe even an option that enables control of the ride height, or an air-ride suspension of some sort. But I guess this is OK. One thing these trucks could benefit from is a good appearance package. Still needs more model variants to be more competitive.

    But again where’s the beef!

    Give us some real hardware.

    1. Yessiree !, Another Clara Peller moment for me as well. I want some substance off road wise, as well as the lookers. 🙂

Probably my favorite opening line to any post I’ve read here in the past 5 years.

Black on black on black color scheme looks fresh, like a Denali with chrome delete, but does it sit any higher than the stock model? Elevation kinda implies this trim level is, well, higher off the ground? It’s definitely higher in price, but that should also come with some interior upgrades – still very underwhelmed with the screens in these trucks. I’d rather pop an iPad into the center console than deal with what’s there.

  8. Not so much anymore with 300 HP, the old 454 SS Chevy truck did not even have that much. I remember people back then thinking they were in high cotton with that one.
