Band Records Song In 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Acoustics are, obviously, very important for a musician. Just as they are for (some) car buyers. But could the interior of a car be so hushed so as to serve as a recording studio? Perhaps not, unless the car is as soundproof as the 2014 Chevrolet Impala. To answer the question, Detroit-based blues-rock band The Gentlemen Mutineers (GM?) teamed up with Chevrolet to test the silence of the 2014 Impala by recording tracks for a special mix of the band’s song Detroit Throttle in the car. The results are what you see below.

Feel free to download the entire track (in MP3 format) right here.

  1. These guys should read up on the subject of acoustics and recording studio design, seems like they are pretty clueless on the effect of reflective and refractive surfaces and their effect on sound propagation. They would be better off recording in a restroom for the novelty effect. Pretty obvious neither GM or these musicians have a clue on the recording subject, as expected.
