Ad Break: Opel OPC = Fast + Faster

Unless you’ve been under a rock for the past decade you hate cars, it’s likely that you’re already familiar with Opel Performance Center, or OPC — Opel’s in-house tuning and performance division that has brought the world such awesome vehicles as the Astra OPC, Insignia OPC, and Corsa OPC, among others.

And this new and rather youthful ad introduces us to the fact that OPC isn’t only fast, it’s faster:

The GM Authority Take

Who knew that OPC also made go-fast sneakers?

On a serious note, perhaps Opel should considering offering a line of driving shoes for drivers who want the utmost advantage… then it could show its “fast shoes” in a commercial and create direct tie-in with its vehicles. You know, something along the lines of, “We take such pride in driving our fast cars, that we even made a line of specially-designed shoes for driving them.”

That should go hand-in-hand with today’s style- and fashion-oriented brand that Opel is becoming (or has become).

  1. Opel OPC labeled shoes?? GREAT advertising idea! How about underwear with Opel-OPC branded waistbands, so the droopy-drawer set can proclaim how “fast” they are? Then food processors, chain saws, and lawn mowers, perhaps. Just think of it, the possibilities are endless!

  2. I don’t get this advert, I was expecting to see a Insignia being thrown around a race track & squealing tyres not a bloke getting off a train & running up a escalator.

    1. He’s jumping on the escalator. There’s a difference! 😉

  3. With regards merchandise for VXR (& others OPC, SS, HSV) there is a massive opportunity to sell quality useable goods that tie in with the product such as tool boxes, jackets, t shirts and even motorbikes but it has to tie in or be of usefulness & complement/sell the marque. Products such as cheap poor quality & unusable with little link to what it’s complementing/selling eg branded shaving blades, underwear etc are a bad idea.
