Four Hospitalized After GM Lordstown Assembly Catches Fire

A local Ohio news station is reporting that four people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment after a sudden fire sparked at GM’s Lordstown Assembly Plant, where three shifts are dedicated to building the Chevrolet Cruze.

The small fire started in the area at the end of the line, around 9:00 PM Friday evening, with early investigations stating that the fire was caused by welding work performed by contractors. And while three of the workers were treated and released that night, a fourth stayed the night, but should be released by now.

Communications Manager Tom Mock told Fox Youngstown that fire crews had the small fire contained quickly, damage was minimal and production is set to resume as scheduled on Sunday night, following the holiday shutdown.
