Executive Shuffle: Rieck Resigns, Aldred Appointed Acting Opel/Vauxhall Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Aftersales

Aldred has been Vauxhall’s managing director since January 2010.

  1. Alfred Rieck was a mistake from the start, by any standards his performance at VW was mediocre at best. Duncan Aldred has been a first rate performer and as I know from personal experience is a Vauxhall man through and through, what is a little surprising is that he is still going to carry on running Vauxhall in the UK whilst at the same time taking over marketing for Opel. Even though it is a temporary appointment in view of the current state of Opel sales and image in Europe I would have thought it needed someone on the case 24/7. Lets just hope they get it right next time – in other words Susan Docherty is a definite NO NO!
