The Buick Regal might be in a sales slump thanks to the appeal of the more affordable Verano, but here’s an important statistic: most Regal buyers are purchasing the “German engineered” sedan for its performance appeal, with Automotive News reporting a 60/40 percent sales split between the Regal Turbo and GS model to the efficient eAssist model. So while the numbers aren’t ideal for Buick,  it appears that the performance of the Turbo and GS have caught on.
However, it’s important to note that this is before the launch of the Verano Turbo, which has enough spunk to outrun the base Regal Turbo from 0-60 by a full half second. We wonder if more buyers will continue choosing the Regal GS for the extra performance, or if the new addition to the Verano family will be more appealing than the Regal Turbo.

remember they said Buick was for old people..they just get beat by Toyota whit the Camry,,
I think people misunderstood what you’re trying to say, Miath. What our friend is saying is that Buick is no longer the company for “old people”. Toyota now has that “crown”.
Dayum, Mr. Phram’s photos….
Even the snow doesn’t diminish the presence of the GS.
This is exactly why I hope GM updates the turbo motor in the Regal to match or beat the Malibu Turbo but still stay under the GS
@ Miath: I’d like to see a Camry owner beat me in my GS
40% of already not huge sales of the Regal are for the non-turbo Regals. Maybe GM should now realize nobody wants that mediocre engine, although e-assist might be what’s attributing to those sales. Whatever the case may be, GM needs to lighten their cars so they can get the same mileage as other cars. Regals weigh too much for the small engine in them. The GS could also be better. I believe with 300 pounds shed, it could do mid 5 second 0-60 times. I personally don’t see the Regal being around last 2016.
I just do not understand this low Regal sales. They are EVERYwhere here in Detroit area. I mean when I stop at a light there are at least 2 in my view. And buyers are both young and old.
Anyway I think the Regal is lot more sporty looking vehicle than the Verano.
sorry what …. y said you have more older people drive the Camry if you compare to Buick….remember before Buick was build for grandpa….now the Camry is for grandpa..lol
Regardless, the GS is the car for me. I have had the opportunity to drive both the American GS and the original German V6 OPC. Does the word “autobahn” ring any bells? I assure you, this is not symbol for grandpa anymore.
