U.S. Market Not In The Plans For 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Despite a lot of buzz going on in America regarding the news of an all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer, GM’s product planning officials currently have no plans for a launch in the domestic market.

The 2013 Trailblazer is going to be a mid-sized, body-on-frame SUV as it’s based on the same all-new truck platform as the next-generation Chevy Colorado pickup. That being the case, it’s not a unibody crossover like the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango, which we could see the vehicle competing with here.

If you recall, GM originally had no plans to launch the new truck in the U.S. market either, but now we know that the Colorado will indeed not only be sold, but built in the U.S. as well.

The all-new T-Blazer is expected to launch next year starting in Thailand (just like the Colorado) before being produced and sold in South America and Asia as well. But before that happens, look for its official unveiling during the 2011 Dubai Motor Show happening November 10.

  1. I want to see a Jeep like vehicle from GM. A smaller off road vehicle. I feel that the trailblazer is just the vehicle to be that vehicle. Possibly even fill the shoes that the hummer brand should have filled.

I don’t see a good reason to have another chevy crossover when the equinox and terrain already exist.

  3. PSYCH; So here we are presented yesterday with this sweet new ride we all got stoked for a new 4X4 SUV only to be told today no you wont see it here in the States. Is this some kind of sick joke, why in the world didn’t they wait until Dubai to present and say its only for certain markets none of which will be the northern hemisphere of north america.
I could have lived with that. JD what is the real story here, this is a total PR fiasco…

    1. Youre absolutely right.

They probably will bring it over in a few years

I am looking for a credible but better styled not boxy Jeep Liberty alternative. If this trailblazer gets decent mpg and will top out at 30K, I would buy it.

      1. Unboxy Jeep Liberty, 2013 Liberty is more sleek similar to the Grand Cherokee. Seen em running around in Auburn Hills.

  4. Something tells me they’re full of it and that it is coming to North America. Like Yab said, why announce it at a North Ameican press event if it’s not destined for this world?

  5. I don’t know if I can make my 2007 Trailblazer last long enough until GM finally realizes that we DESERVE it.

  6. We should send messages to GM and Chevy on Facebook urging them to bring the TrailBlazer to the US!!!!!!

  7. I think GM does listen. Hence all the Camaro versions we’re seeing and are bound to see. Hence the diesel version of the Cruze. Hence the new Colorado. So on, so forth…it may seem like a futile event (and 10 years ago it may very well have been) but I think there may be some merit to our vocalising, even here on GMA. And yes, I do believe that somebody is paid to keep track of what we say right here.

  8. I think it looks sharp and would make a nice family hauler. If it comes to NA, hope it’s available w/a Gen V 5.3L and the new 8-speed.
