Ample Amount Of Automatic 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Models Expected To Be Sold

While it’s hard to imagine, General Motors is forecasting that the upcoming 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 will yield a strong demand for automatic transmissions. Yes, the car is expected to be a 580 horsepower Mustang-eating track monster, but according to Camaro marketing manager John Fitzpatrick, a lot of people will not want to have to deal with the clutch pedal.

“There are a lot of people out there who, as they age, do not want a third pedal,” Fitzpatrick told Ward’s Auto. The trend is true with the currently available Camaro SS, with 70 percent of buyers opting out of a third pedal. Though if it were one of our to own, there’s not a chance we would pass on the ability to independently row through the gears of such a machine.

  1. Auto could be quicker than a manual. I seen tests of the cts-v it’s quicker with the auto. The lsa power peak at 6100 rpm shift to late and hit the fuel cut off at 6200 bog down.

  4. I would prefer a dual clutch setup or a sequential gearbox.

  5. I’d go with the manual, shifting through the gears is a lot more fun. It can get annoying in traffic or on hills but when the road opens up or starts to wind there is nothing better.

    1. It never gets annoying. Ever!

Unless you’re trying to eat a burger, hold a cell, and flip off the driver in the next lane all at the same time!
