GM Recalls 111,136 Mid-Size Crossovers Due To Seatbelt Issue

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall on all of The General’s Theta platform-based crossovers on the fairly concerning issue involving cracks in the seat belt buckle anchors of certain recently-produced vehicles. These include the Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain, and Cadillac SRX.

According to The General, the cracks can lead to a full fracture of the buckle if rotated a specific way, and therefore could separate in the event of a crash, leaving the passenger essentially with no protection. Owners will be notified before or on January 18th to bring in their vehicles to their dealership and have the issue fixed free of charge.
